L’ouvrière (loo-vree-air) is a French noun with two meanings: “the workwoman” and “the worker bee”. This dual meaning perfectly defines the joint effort of  women and bees at L’ouvrière, a beeswax candle studio in upstate New York. Owned and operated by Susan Reason, L'ouvriere is housed in a converted barn in the beautiful Northern Catskills. L’ouvrière has been producing pure beeswax candles since 2003.
